Another Yeti Tool customer has been delighted, declaring last week "We've had an amazing ROI from our SmartBench. It has paid for itself many, many times over."
Dan Atherton, co-director of Wrexham-based Summerhill Campers, purchased a SmartBench PrecisionPro two years ago and has been hugely impressed with the results so far, commenting:
"We only did a small amount of campervan furniture work originally when we launched the business four years ago. About 1% of all our projects used bench saws. It was a laborious process and repetitive work."
The team at Summerhill Campers used to mainly buy campervan furniture and build it for customers as part of van conversion projects. The majority of their work was pop-tops for campers at that time.
"Since purchasing the SmartBench, we've increased the production of campervan furniture to 50% of our business. It's like a third member of staff."
The team didn't have any formal CNC knowledge, so it was a steep learning curve but there are no regrets, as Dan added:
"Two-dimensional campervan furniture is now a major part of our business. We use 15-millimetre plywood and the SmartBench has been amazing."
The team worked right through Covid and lockdowns as the business was legally able to do so. This enabled Summerhill Campers to continue to build a customer base despite being less than five years old.
"The SmartBench has been perfect for us. We produce highly bespoke projects, not volume work. The precision CNC it provides is exactly what we want for our campervan conversion projects," said Dan.
