Pre-cutting checklist

Think you're ready to cut? Why not be sure with our list of final checks to complete before you press go!

Before loading any material, check the machine:

Clean SmartBench

  • Wheel tracks
  • Racks
  • Table

Empty vacuum bag

Clear SmartBench topside

Clear SmartBench underside

  • Ensure power cords can move freely
  • Ensure vacuum hose can move freely

Check that X and Y axes are sound (whilst powered on, there are no knocking noises when gently rocked)

Check the Z-head lead screw is lubed

Calibrate if high accuracy is required. Actions that can affect accuracy include:
- Moving the machine
- Ambient temperature changes

Load material

Secure spoil board/waste board (If applicable)

Secure stock material (clamps, glue, screws etc):
- Is your stock the correct thickness?

Clamp the beam, checking the beam wheels run on the surface

Home SmartBench

Select the correct router bit and check condition (is it sharp?)

Load tool into the spindle

Set your job XY datum (start point) 

Set your Z-height

Close the dust shoe

In the manual move:
- Vac power check
- Spindle power check
