Flow rate requirements

This article will explain the minimum flow rate requirements for your extractor to efficiently extract swarf and dust from the workpiece.

< Previous | List | Next >

Flow rate, measured in liters per second (l/s), is the amount of air that flows through the vacuum in one second.

For your SmartBench you will need a MINIMUM flow rate of 70 l/s.

Some materials and applications WILL require extractors with a higher flow rate. Consider your application when choosing an extractor!

How to check that the extractor’s flow rate is high enough during a job

A flow rate of 70 l/s will be enough for most applications. However, it is still a good idea to do a visual inspection of how well your extraction is performing.

The flow rate is high enough if you can see that there is no swarf or dust on the worktop during and after machining.
