This article details how to swap out your SmartBench's power supply located in the lower beam.
How to replace the Power supply unit in the lower beam
Before you start

Disconnect the lower beam from SmartBench and remove all power cables.

To prevent damage where necessary change the voltage of the new power supply.
The visible number on the bottom of the power supply unit is the setting.

Step 1 - Remove the PSU cover
Remove the 4x M4x8mm bolts on the top side of the case with the 3mm hex driver.

Remove the remaining 5x M3x6mm bolts using the 2.5mm hex driver.
Depending on the age of the beam you may have two additional bolts to remove on the underside - where the black stepper brick is in the below photo

Carefully remove the PSU Cover to reduce damaging the power cables.
Step 2 - Remove E-stop button
Using a flat screwdriver, insert it into the tab on the rear of the switch and gently lever it towards you. The connector will pull away from the casing.

Step 2 - How to reattach E-stop upon reassembly
*This step is for the reverse order after you have installed your new PSU*
Attach the E-stop button connector This is just a push click fitting. The orientation is important here.
.
Step 3 - Remove the plastic caps
Remove the 4x plastic caps. They can be lifted off with a flat blade screwdriver taking care not to scratch the aluminium.

Step 4 - Remove the fuse plate
This is not necessary however it makes retrieving the bolts in step 5 easier - remove the electrical fitting by removing the 6x M4x8mm bolts. Again depending on the age of the beam the bolt size can vary but the process is the exact same

Step 5 - Unbolt the PSU
Remove the 4x M4x14mm bolts which secure the power supply unit in place with a 3mm driver, we always recommend the use of a small magnet to prevent dropping the bolt, however they can be taken out without this.
Step 6 - Unscrew the old Power supply unit wires
Lift up the plastic cover and unscrew the current wires with a crosshead screwdriver

Please take a few photos of your current wiring so that you can recreate this with the replacement PSU.
You will need to recreate the same wiring connection points with the new PSU so this is important so you do not forget where they go

Step 7 - Install the new PSU
The new power supply unit wires have to be in the same positions as per your current installation

Any questions about the location of the wires or if you wish to double check by sending us a photo please feel free to contact us via a support ticket
Use the same steps as above for reinstallation but in the reverse order
