How to test for a faulty limit switch on the console

This article will show you how to view on the console if you have a faulty permanently or intermittently triggering limit switch

Limit switch console check

*Note this check will only show if a limit switch is switched on when it should be off, if you have a limit switch that isn't detecting the home or max end of the bench, this is the X-axis check article and this is the Y axis check article*
 
 
Before you turn your machine on manually move it to the middle position on the X and Y axis, example below:
Turn SmartBench on and skip the homing process with the red X in the top right of the screen

Head to the CAD/CAM application. Press the settings cog on the left hand side.

Any values after the Pn: section of the status monitor represent which switches are getting triggered

Here is an example with no limit switch fault:

This is an example with a Y axis home limit switch stuck on:

If your console update is v2.6.2 or later (Version can be checked in the update application on the console) the codes in the status bar will be also be marked red to help identify the faulty switch.

For example in the image above in the green bar, you may see Y which would show a Y axis limit switch is stuck on

Pn: Symbol (note there is a difference between upper and lower cases)
